Sakura is a solo piano piece written for the Brighton Japan Festival in 2013. Performed by Steinway Artist - Aisa Ijiri, the piece is a meditation on the beauty and the fragility of life. Sakura, ‘Cherry Blossom’, is a classic symbol of beauty in Japanese culture. Each year the blossoms appear on masse and disappear again within a week. The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death has often been associated with mortality. Accompanying the original recording on this release is an off-kilter reworking by WW stalwart Old Man Diode.
